Hi y’all! I’m Shalene, Christ follower, author and part-time homeschooling mom to five. Driven by a deep love for God and a conviction that motherhood carries eternal significance, I desire to help women anchor in Christ, nurture grace-filled families and foster life-giving homes. My book, When Mothering is Hard and No One Sees communicates a life-giving message that God’s plans for motherhood are more beautiful, purposeful and redemptive than many women can scarcely imagine. As a former national magazine editor, I write at the intersection of faith, family, and motherhood.

When Mothering is Hard and No One Sees is available wherever books are sold and was featured as the 2026 summer book club with Millions Praying Moms. Shalene is also a YouVersion Bible App contributor, and her heart-warming children’s book, Bruce the Brave climbed to number 1 on Amazon in Christian Children’s Literature the day it was released. Shalene is a regular contributor at Her View From Home. Her work has also appeared in a variety of other publications. She is also the founder of Lily&Loom, a boutique vintage Turkish rug shop. Lily & Loom rugs have been seen on HGTV, The Magnolia Network and Fixer Upper: Welcome Home.
