The Light is Growing
It’s the first day of April … the month of Easter. And the light has been growing longer each day, stretching higher and wider. And it all feels a bit like it’s in anticipation of the coming Easter. If you feel like hope is elusive and rescue feels distant and resurrection is impossible, just hang on! Because the light is GROWING, and Easter is coming!
T H E L I G H T I S G R O W I N G
The light is growing, can you see?
The days are getting long.
Dark shrinks back, new life bursts forth,
The earth awakes with song.
Yet in a dark and lonely tomb,
the Savior rests his head.
For two days now, his body’s lain:
beaten, broken, dead.
And on the morning of the third,
hope feels consumed by loss.
It seems that death has triumphed
on that brutal Roman cross.
And gleeful is the enemy
who thinks he’s finally won.
But the story isn’t over yet.
Our Jesus isn’t done!
For light is growing, can you see?
He’s overcoming death!
When Jesus Christ,
the sacrifice,
our Savior …
takes a breath!
The darkness flees. The heavens roar.
The earth begins to shake.
The massive stone is rolled away,
as the slain lamb … W A K E S.
And then our resurrected King
steps out into the day.
He leaves behind an empty tomb.
The grave can’t make him stay!
So from now into eternity,
death has lost its sting!
For Christ is risen, Christ is risen!
He’s our resurrected King!
